Is Marwan ibn al-Hakam the one banished by the Messenger of Allah?

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, passed away when Marwan ibn al-Hakam was a young boy, eight years old, and some say even younger. Biographers mention that his father was exiled to Ta'if, and Marwan went with him while he was still young. A Muslim should be keen on what benefits him, and his questions should pertain to matters that result in religious or worldly action, and he should not preoccupy himself with what is of no benefit.
