If a wife insults her husband and his family, is it permissible to insult or beat her, or is it obligatory to remain silent and seek reward from Allah?

It is permissible for the husband to curse his wife if she curses him, without aggression. However, if she curses his family, he is not permitted to curse her family. He may also strike her for discipline, but it is recommended to deal with her with wisdom and gentleness, and to be patient with her misbehavior sometimes.
