How is it possible to reconcile rational thinking in choosing a religious and moral partner with the absence of strong feelings towards him, especially when there is a prior emotional attachment to someone else?

The wise Sharia has clarified that religion and character are the foundation for choosing a spouse, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "If someone whose character and religion you approve of comes to you, then marry him." If the husband loves her, he will honor her; and if he dislikes her, he will not oppress her. Thus, companionship strengthens and the family stabilizes. So, if the young man is religious and of good character, accept him as a suitor. Istikhara (seeking guidance from Allah) is prescribed for this matter. If the matter is facilitated and the marriage takes place, then there is good in it; and if it does not, Allah may have averted evil from you. It should be noted that the fiancés are strangers to each other until the legal marriage contract is concluded, and there is no harm in exchanging gifts between them.
