What is the evidence that the Prophet of God, Jesus, peace be upon him, did not die? And is it correct to say, as in the Gospel of Matthew: "For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth"? And is this evidence from the Gospel that Jesus, peace be upon him, did not die? And did the Prophet of God, Jesus, remain on earth for the same duration that Jonah spent in the belly of the huge fish?

God guaranteed the preservation of the stories of the previous prophets mentioned in the Holy Qur’an, including the story of Jesus, peace be upon him. Muslims believe that Jesus was neither killed nor crucified; rather, God made someone else appear like him, and raised him to Himself. He will descend at the end of time. Christians, however, differed concerning him: some said he is God, and some said he is the son of God. Furthermore, the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his not being killed is a belief held by the Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah, whose source is the Holy Qur’an. As for what relates to the tomb of Christ, his emergence from it, and likening that to the sign of Jonah, Islamic scholars have clarified the error and contradiction of these matters, because these narrations have been subjected to distortion, alteration, and falsehoods. Muslims are advised to learn their religion and to avoid following the delusions of sects and religions.
