The ruling on a sham marriage has been detailed previously. If the aforementioned marriage took place with the permission of the guardian (wali) and the presence of witnesses, then it is a valid marriage. Its validity is not affected by the fact that it was for the purpose of obtaining residency, nor is it affected by the promise of divorce after acquiring citizenship. Likewise, the wife's statement "You only married me to get residency" does not affect the marriage's validity. Therefore, there is no sin in cohabiting with the wife.
