Does the marriage contract need to be renewed if it was made with the intention of obtaining residency in exchange for money, and there is now a desire for a real, legitimate marriage?

What happened between the questioner and the girl is a sham marriage and is invalid. If the questioner desires a valid, شرعي (religiously lawful) marriage with the girl and she agrees, he must fulfill the conditions for validity. A sham marriage is forbidden in Islam because there is no true intention behind it, it deviates from its شرعية (religious) objectives, and it includes conditions that contradict its purpose.
