How can a person rid himself of arrogance?

Arrogance is a reprehensible trait inherited from the accursed Iblis. It is an attempt to contend with Allah Almighty in His attributes. Arrogance may lead to its possessor being deprived of Paradise, and on the Day of Judgment, the arrogant will be gathered like tiny ants, trampled underfoot. Arrogance has many forms, including: rejecting the truth, self-admiration, and boasting about one's tribe and lineage. The cure for arrogance is to remember that piety is the true measure, that no matter how great a human becomes, they are weak, that the arrogant are detested by Allah and by people, and that humans originated from a vile drop of semen and will return as a rotten corpse.
