What is the authenticity of the hadith narrated by Mu'adh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding prayer times in winter and summer?
Al-Albani said about a part of the hadith, "O Mu'adh, if it is winter, then pray Fajr in the dark (ghallis) and prolong the recitation... And if it is summer, then pray Fajr when it is light (asfir)..." that it is fabricated and a lie, because it contradicts the action of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who always prayed Fajr in the dark (ghallis). As for the rest of the hadith, some of its paragraphs, such as "Pray Dhuhr when the sun declines, and Asr when the sun is pure white, and Maghrib when the sun sets and is concealed by the veil," their meaning is correct, and some of them are the text of an authentic hadith. As for "Pray Dhuhr when the sun turns white," it is weak and no one has discussed it, and Abu Nu'aym described it as strange.
