It is narrated that Safwan ibn Al-Mu'attal was often overcome by sleep and would not wake up for Fajr prayer. The Prophet acknowledged his excuse and did not reproach him. He is Safwan ibn Al-Mu'attal ibn Rabee'ah Al-Sulami. He witnessed the Battle of the Trench and Al-Muraysi', and was mentioned in the incident of the Slander (Al-Ifk), where Allah cleared him. The Prophet said about him: "I have known nothing but good about him." He was martyred in the year 19 AH.
