Why were the Sabaeans separated from the Jews and Christians in verse 69 of Surat Al-Ma'idah, even though they are not People of the Book? And why were they not mentioned together as People of the Book, and then the Sabaeans added to them, as in other verses? And why were the Sabaeans mentioned only with the People of the Book in this verse, and not the Magians and others, as in Surat Al-Hajj?

Al-Fayrouzabadi mentioned in "Basair Dhawi Al-Tamyeez" that the precedence of Christians over Sabians in the verse from Surat Al-Baqarah, and the precedence of Sabians over Christians in the verse from Surat Al-Hajj, is due to considering chronological order and rank. Christians are given precedence in rank because they are People of the Book, while Sabians are given precedence chronologically due to their earlier existence. In Surat Al-Ma'idah, both meanings were considered, so they were presented first in wording but delayed in estimation. Furthermore, the mention of Jews, Christians, and Zoroastrians in the verse from Surat Al-Hajj is a Quranic style that sometimes elaborates after summarizing.
