What is the ruling on my spending most of my time in the apartment of my second wife, who is obedient to me, and to where I have moved my office and clothes to focus on my work as a university professor, while I try to compensate my first wife who is disobedient to me at other times? Is this considered a shortcoming in equitable treatment between wives?

Justice must be observed among wives in the division of time, and it is not permissible to prefer one over another. Justice is applied to the overnight stay (mabeet), and the day follows the night in this division. Therefore, it is not permissible to enter upon a wife during another's turn and stay with her during the day, except out of necessity. If the first wife agrees to your staying in the second wife's house during the day when it is her (the first wife's) turn, there is no harm. However, if she retracts and demands her right, she is entitled to it. It is not permissible to abandon staying overnight with her during her turn except with her consent or if she is defiant (nashuz), in which case her right to division of time is forfeited.
