The answer

Worship alleviates calamities and assists the servant when they befall; for Allah defends those who have believed, and He does not abandon whoever preserved His religion. Jonah (peace be upon him) was saved from the belly of the whale due to his righteous deeds, his supplication, and the elevation of his deeds and his call. Similarly, the predecessors used to hasten to worship during calamities, and Allah commanded seeking assistance through patience and prayer. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Become acquainted with Allah during times of ease, and He will recognize you during times of hardship." And worship during times of turmoil is like migrating to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
