What is the ruling on giving blood or plasma components to a child with incurable cancer, attaching and detaching a ventilator for him, and giving him nutritional fluids such as artificial nutrition or sugar solutions?

It is permissible to remove life support from a patient if all functions of their brain have ceased definitively, or if two or more doctors have determined that they are in the status of the deceased. It is permissible not to use life support if the patient is suffering from a terminal, incurable illness and death is certain, as certified by three trustworthy doctors, or if they are in a state of disability or mental inertia with a chronic illness or advanced cancer, or a chronic heart and lung disease with repeated cessation of their functions, or an intractable brain damage, all of which must be confirmed by a report from three trustworthy doctors.

As for stopping blood and plasma components and nutritional fluids (stopping treatment), it is not permissible unless three trustworthy specialist doctors determine that the treatment causes harm to the patient and does not improve their condition. It is obligatory to continue nourishing the patient and alleviating or reducing their pain. Hastening the patient's death (euthanasia) in any form is forbidden.
