Are there really haunted houses, and what is the evidence?

There are houses inhabited by jinn, and this is indicated by the Prophet's (peace be upon him) prohibition against turning houses into graves, and that a house in which Surat al-Baqarah is recited will not be entered by Satan. The Prophet (peace be upon him) also commanded to warn vermin in houses three times before killing them, for if they return, they are devils. Jinn inhabit empty places such as burrows and caves, and houses in which the Quran is not recited and Allah's name is not mentioned.
