How can physical therapy students serve Islam and Muslims through their specialization?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The Muslim's purpose in life is to worship Allah alone, perform devotional rituals, and direct all life activities in accordance with Islamic law and in service of society. This is based on Allah's saying: "And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me." (Quran 51:56) And His saying: "Say, 'Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds. No partner has He. And this I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims.'" (Quran 6:162-163) The medical profession is one of the most important ways a Muslim can serve their religion and community; Islam has made it a collective obligation (fard kifayah) due to its importance. Therefore, a Muslim physician must have sincere intention for Allah and be truthful with people in serving their religion and community, especially since advocates of Christianization and falsehood have exploited this profession to corrupt people and tempt the weak-hearted.
