However, in matters other than gifts and endowments, there is no text mandating equality in treatment, kindness, and maintaining ties, though it is unanimously recommended. If the mother prefers some of her daughters over others in treatment, and fears that this might incite animosity and hatred, then she incurs sin by doing so; because warding off what leads to the severing of kin ties is obligatory.
