What is the ruling on a manager compelling employees to wear trousers as a "uniform," considering it to be the attire of the modern age and progress? Is this considered imitation of disbelievers? Will the manager be held accountable on the Day of Judgment for promoting this custom? And is he sinful if he deceives or lies for the benefit of work, or if he unintentionally wrongs an employee?

If the direct superior forces the wearing of trousers under the pretext that it is the attire of the modern age and development, then there is no objection to complying as long as it does not necessitate prohibition, such as not covering the 'awrah (private parts). The criterion for imitating disbelievers is that a Muslim does something exclusive to disbelievers. As for something that has become widespread among Muslims and is no longer exclusive to disbelievers, like trousers, wearing them is not considered imitation.
