What is the wisdom behind Qabd (grasping) in prayer, and what is the difference between it and Sadl (letting the hands hang)?

The ruling on qabd (grasping) and sadl (dangling) has been detailed previously. The wisdom behind qabd is to prevent the hands from fidgeting and to embody humility and submission to Allah Almighty, as mentioned by scholars. Al-Zurqani said: The wisdom in this posture is that it is the characteristic of the humble petitioner, and it is more effective in preventing fidgeting and closer to khushu' (devotion). Al-Manawi mentioned that the wisdom might be for the place of grasping to be above the noblest of organs (the heart), or because the heart is the seat of intention, and it is customary for one who guards something to place his hands upon it.
