Is it permissible to perform ablution with dough-water?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is not permissible to purify with water if it has been altered by a pure substance in a way that deprives it of the name "water," such as "dough water," because Allah Almighty says: "and you find no water." An exception to this is alteration by something difficult to protect the water from, or by prolonged stagnation, or by something that does not mix with the water, or by a neighboring odor. If "dough water" has altered the water significantly, then ablution with it is not valid. However, if the alteration is minor and does not deprive it of the name "absolute water," then purification with it is valid, as it has been authentically reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, bathed from a bowl that had traces of dough.
