Can an adulterer abroad repent, and is it true that he will not return safe or successful?

Adultery is one of the gravest major sins, and it brings disgrace and torment upon its perpetrator if he does not repent. However, the door of repentance is open to anyone who repents with sincere and heartfelt repentance. Allah forgives whoever repents, no matter how great their sin. Allah the Almighty says: "Say, 'O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.'" [Quran 39:53]. He must also increase in seeking forgiveness and performing good deeds, along with intense regret for what he has committed.
