Will the son pray for his father just as the father prayed for his parents during their lifetime?

Allah Almighty commanded us to pray for our parents, to be dutiful to them, and to treat them kindly during their lives and after their deaths, in accordance with His saying: "And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, 'My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up when I was small.'" And it is hoped that whoever treats his parents kindly and prays for them will be treated similarly by his children.
