What is the Dahyma and Ahlas tribulation? I hope for an answer.

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the tribulations (fitan) saying:

1. The Fitna of Al-Ahlas (Sacks/Saddles): He described it as "flight and war," and it was likened to ahlas due to its persistence and long duration, or because of its dark color and obscurity.

2. The Fitna of As-Sarra' (Prosperity): Its smoke originates from beneath the feet of a man from the Prophet's household who claims to be from him but is not. "As-Sarra'" refers to blessings and prosperity, and this tribulation arises from committing sins due to excessive comfort.

3. The Agreement upon a Man: People will gather to pledge allegiance to a man described as "a buttock on a rib." This is a similitude for an affair that is neither stable nor straight, meaning that this man is unworthy of kingship and incapable of maintaining it independently.

4. The Fitna of Ad-Duhaima' (The Dark, Ominous One): This is a great, dark tribulation that spares no one from its hardship. It continues and prolongs, where a man awakes as a believer and goes to bed as a disbeliever, until people are divided into two camps: a camp of pure faith and a camp of hypocrisy with no faith in it.

When this occurs, people should await the emergence of the Dajjal.
