Is arduous labor in construction or bakeries considered a valid excuse for breaking the fast during the day in Ramadan?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Every Muslim must fast Ramadan. Whoever has a strenuous job should refer to Fatwa No. 110708 to know when it is permissible for him to break his fast, its conditions, and the sayings of the scholars regarding it. Whoever is permitted to break his fast should do so discreetly and not openly, lest he expose himself to accusation and punishment from the authorities, and to prevent encouraging those who have no excuse to break their fast and do so openly. The jurists have stipulated that whoever is seen eating without an excuse in Ramadan should be disciplined.
