What is the ruling regarding the prayer of a wife residing with her sick son in a room in a European hospital, where prayer and the practice of any religious rituals are prohibited?

Prayer is one of the greatest pillars of Islam after the Two Testimonies of Faith. It is not permissible to abandon it or be negligent in it, no matter the reasons. Rather, one prays according to their ability: standing, sitting, or lying down, or even by gesturing while walking. As long as one is conscious, prayer is not waived for them.

It is permissible to combine Dhuhr with Asr and Maghrib with Isha for the traveler or the resident, to alleviate hardship and difficulty.

Severe warnings have been issued against those who neglect or are negligent in prayer, as stated in the Almighty's words: (Indeed, performing prayer is a duty on the believers at prescribed times) and (But there came after them successors who neglected prayer and pursued desires; so they are going to meet evil), and His saying: (So woe to those who pray, [but] who are heedless of their prayer).

The Prophet, peace be upon him, emphasized the importance of prayer on time and the danger of abandoning it, saying: (Which deed is most beloved to Allah? He said: Prayer on time), and he said: (Whoever misses the Asr prayer, their deeds are nullified), and he said: (Do not intentionally abandon an obligatory prayer. For whoever abandons it intentionally, the protection of Allah is lifted from them).

The sick person must strive to pray in the hospital. If she cannot pray in her room, she should go out to the hospital courtyard. If it is difficult for her to go out for every prayer, she may combine Dhuhr with Asr and Maghrib with Isha. It is not permissible to abandon prayer under any circumstances.
