As long as the girl is a stranger to the questioner, he must sever ties with her because it is a means to evil, and perhaps Satan will exploit it. Allah, the Almighty, says: "O you who have believed, do not follow the footsteps of Satan. And whoever follows the footsteps of Satan - indeed, he enjoins immorality and wrongdoing."

He can try to convince her father to agree to their marriage. If he is convinced, then all praise is due to Allah. Otherwise, he should seek someone else, for perhaps goodness lies in his marriage to someone else. Allah, the Almighty, says: "And perhaps you dislike a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah knows while you know not."

The guardian of the girl should not refuse her marriage to a suitable suitor, nor is it permissible for him to force her to marry someone unsuitable. If she fears that her guardian will prevent her marriage, she can refer her case to the Sharia judge. As for dreams after performing Istikhara, they are merely a source of comfort, and what is relied upon is that whatever occurs after Istikhara is good.
