A man's statement to his wife, "You will be divorced," implying "You are going to be divorced," indicates a future event and does not constitute an immediate divorce. This is because a promise of divorce is not binding, nor is it obligatory or even recommended to fulfill it. The husband has the choice between offering expiation for breaking an oath or divorcing his wife and then taking her back, provided it is not the third divorce. However, if the husband intended for the divorce to occur immediately upon his wife's persistence in talking, then the divorce does take place at that moment, and he may take her back.
