What is the role of media in general, and Islamic satellite channels in particular, in Islamic Sharia, and are these channels subject to the supervision of a committee of Islamic scholars, or are they owned by businessmen, and what is their role?

Media can be utilized for disseminating religion through:

1. Teaching correct doctrine and warning against innovations (bid'ah).

2. Teaching the rulings of acts of worship (ibadat) and transactions (mu'amalat).

3. Calling to good morals and shunning vices.

4. Answering people's inquiries and solving their problems.

5. Inviting non-Muslims to Islam and refuting the doubts of those who disparage it.

6. Exposing the falsehood of those who follow error and fostering unity among Muslims.

As for the personal transgressions of the channel owner, they do not prevent the broadcasting of an Islamic channel if its administrators are committed. He should be advised to abandon his transgressions. There is no codified censorship for Islamic channels, but scholars act as a general oversight by clarifying transgressions and warning against them.
