Is the Hadith, "If Allah were to punish us, no one would be saved among us except you, O Omar," authentic, and if so, what is its meaning?

This narration was mentioned by exegetes regarding the verse: "Were it not for a decree from Allah that hadCID: 1729061099684, a tremendous punishment would have touched you for what you took" (Al-Anfal: 68), concerning the prisoners of Badr, when Omar suggested killing them, and his opinion coincided with Allah's judgment. However, the report "Had a punishment descended, none would have been saved but Omar" is not authentic due to the weakness of its narrator, 'Ikrimah ibn 'Ammar. And even if it were authentic, the meaning is that had Allah punished the believers for accepting ransom, none would have been saved but Omar, due to his opinion on killing the prisoners, or Sa'd ibn Mu'adh, according to another narration.
