Is it possible to recite Qur'anic verses and the adhkar for protection over a person who is asleep or unconscious, or must the person be awake, conscious, and focused in order to benefit?

It is permissible to perform Ruqyah on a sleeping person, someone who has fainted, or someone who is unconscious. It is not necessary for the person receiving Ruqyah to comprehend what the reciter is saying. What is important is that the reciter understands what he is saying. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, performed Ruqyah on Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn when they were young and not fully comprehending, saying: "(I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from every devil and every poisonous pest, and from every evil eye)." Moreover, Ruqyah for those afflicted by possession or madness is well-established and known, and these individuals do not comprehend what is said to them.
