What is the ruling of Islamic law concerning dealing with a wife who mistreats her husband's family, reveals household secrets, takes his possessions, and whose family defames and slanders the husband?

Divorce is disliked by Allah due to the often negative consequences it entails. However, it is not disliked in all circumstances, as it may be obligatory or the best solution, especially if conjugal life between the spouses becomes impossible, or if one of the spouses fears that they will not uphold the boundaries set by Allah, or if they suffer harm from the continuation of the marriage. In such cases, there is no sin upon the woman for seeking divorce, nor upon the husband for divorcing, based on the Almighty's saying: "And if you fear that they will not uphold the boundaries of Allah, then there is no blame upon them for what she gives up to free herself." [Quran 2:229], and on the story of the wife of Thabit ibn Qays, and on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There should be no harm nor reciprocating harm." Based on this, there is no blame upon the questioner for divorcing the aforementioned woman; rather, separating from her is more appropriate if she persists in her bad manners and disgraceful practices.
