A woman must preserve her chastity, the soundness of her religion, and her honor. Therefore, she should remain in her home and not go out except for a legitimate need, adhering to the Islamic guidelines in her dress and her avoidance of mixing with non-mahram men. A woman should undertake domestic work such as sewing, or work specific to women like medicine and teaching. If she is compelled to go out, she must adhere to the Islamic guidelines.

Travel within the city for work is permissible, provided there is no private seclusion with a non-mahram driver. As for travel outside the city, it must be with a mahram, based on the Hadith: "A woman should not travel except with a mahram." If a mahram is not available, then the woman should excuse herself from traveling, for piety towards Allah brings sustenance.

As for the optimal path for a woman, it is to marry someone whose religion and character are pleasing. There is nothing better for a woman than living in her home with her husband and children. It is permissible for a woman to offer herself to suitable men through her mahram. There is no harm in her being a second, third, or fourth wife to a committed Muslim man. If this is not feasible, then she should pursue an income that does not require travel without a mahram or mixing with non-mahram men.
