Did Gabriel (peace be upon him) object to the Quran being recited to Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) in its current order?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Gabriel (peace be upon him) reviewed the Qur’an with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) every Ramadan. In the last Ramadan, he reviewed it twice. This is known as the Last Review (al-Ardah al-Akhirah). It was affirmed in the Mus'hafs (copies of the Qur'an) according to this arrangement. When Uthman wanted to write down the Mus'hafs, he gathered twelve men, including Zayd ibn Thabit and Ubayy ibn Ka'b. If they disagreed on something, they would postpone it, perhaps looking to the one who had the most recent knowledge of the Last Review, and then they would write it according to his saying. This Mus'haf is what was copied and distributed to the major cities, and Muslims continue to recite from it to this day.
