Are all abrogated verses transmitted by meaning or by phrase? And was the verse of stoning: "The old man and the old woman, if they commit adultery, stone them definitively" revealed with this wording? And is it a miraculous verse? And did God challenge the disbelievers with it? And is it considered part of the Qur'an?

The meaning and types of abrogation (naskh) in the Quran have been previously explained. The verse of stoning (ayat al-rajm) was mentioned in the purified Sunnah (definition), and hadith (definition) narrations of its wording have been authenticated. However, its wording is not part of the Quran, which is recited as an act of worship, because its wording was established through isolated (ahad) narrations, and the Quran is not established by ahad narrations. The Quranic nature of any word is only established by tawatur (mass transmission). Al-Nahhas said: "Indeed, the chain of transmission of the hadith is authentic, but it is an established Sunnah, not Quran." Al-Suyuti said: "Everything that is from the Quran must be mutawatir, and whatever is transmitted through ahad narrations and is not mutawatir is definitively not part of the Quran."
