The question

How do you publish weak hadiths and Israeiliyyat stories in your lessons and lectures, then clarify later that they are so, such as the story of the three loaves of bread attributed to Jesus ( عليه السلام ) and the hadith about honoring one's parents as a salvation from the torment of the grave?

The answer

A distinction must be made between Isra'iliyat and similar stories. There is no harm in narrating them, even if they are neither affirmed nor denied. This is different from what is attributed to the Prophet, peace be upon him. Verification is required for hadiths attributed to the Prophet, with strictness applied to hadiths concerning beliefs and rulings, and leniency, with conditions, in hadiths regarding virtues and admonitions. Imams may narrate from weak narrators hadiths concerning encouragement and deterrence, virtues of deeds, stories, asceticism, and noble character, which do not pertain to rulings. It is permissible to be lenient in narrating and acting upon these hadiths, as long as they are not fabricated.
