Is it permissible to seek divorce from a husband who is excessively jealous, prevents his wife from leaving the house except rarely, and causes her many problems due to his excessive jealousy and temper?

A wife's obedience to her husband is a good deed for which she is rewarded. A wife has rights and duties from her husband, including good companionship. A man's jealousy over his family is praiseworthy in Islamic law, but it must be moderate, without excessive suspicion. Praiseworthy jealousy occurs when there is doubt, while blameworthy jealousy occurs when there is no doubt. It is best for a woman to stay in her home unless there is a need and with her husband's permission. His right takes precedence over the right of her family. Nevertheless, the husband should not prevent her from visiting her family and should help her maintain kinship ties.
