Is it permissible to lie in praise of one's parents, such as claiming they did things they did not do?

Lying is forbidden and reprehensible. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Adhere to truthfulness, for truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. A man continues to be truthful and strives for truthfulness until he is recorded with Allah as a Siddiq (a truthful one). And beware of lying, for lying leads to immorality, and immorality leads to the Fire. A man continues to lie and strives for lying until he is recorded with Allah as a Kadhdhab (a liar)." Lying is not permissible except out of necessity, and it has been permitted in three cases: reconciling between people, a man's speech during war, and a man's conversation with his wife and a woman's with her husband.
