Is it permissible for a Muslim to speak with Allah in colloquial language before sleeping when feeling worried or tired, or simply to narrate the events of his day, with the intention of drawing closer to Allah and not only for the purpose of supplication?

It is legislated for a Muslim to speak to Allah, to confide in Him, and to complain to Him of his worries and sorrows. Allah the Almighty said concerning Ya'qub (Jacob), peace be upon him: "He said: 'I only complain of my suffering and my grief to Allah, and I know from Allah that which you do not know.'"
