The answer

Tahiyyat al-Masjid (greeting the mosque prayer) is a confirmed for one who enters the mosque in a state of purity (wudu') intending to sit. It is prayed as two rak'ahs before sitting. Its prayer is recommended even during disliked times (makrooh times) because it is a prayer with a specific reason.

Tahiyyat al-Masjid is waived in the following cases: 1. If the one entering is the Khateeb (preacher). 2. If one performs an obligatory (fard) or voluntary (nafl) prayer (it is not waived by the funeral prayer). 3. If a Muslim enters and finds that the prayer has been established ( has been called) or the muezzin has begun to call the iqamah, as there is no prayer then except the prescribed (obligatory) one. 4. For one arriving from outside Mecca who performs (circumambulation), as it is included in the two rak'ahs of tawaf. As for others, the greeting of the House (Kaaba) for them is two rak'ahs of prayer if they do not intend to perform tawaf. 5. By repeated entry into it, sufficing with a single greeting upon the first entry, according to the Hanafis and Malikis if the return is soon. Whereas it is not waived and is recommended according to the Shafi'is and apparently from the words of the Hanbalis.
