What is the meaning of invoking blessings upon the Prophet, what is meant by the Ibrahimic prayers, is Prophet Muhammad from the family of Ibrahim, is it true that Sayyiduna Imran and Sayyiduna Muhammad are from the family of Ibrahim but at its end because they have no male offspring, and is it possible for bad behavior to emanate from someone who is said to be from the Prophet's family?

Linguistically, 'salat' (prayer) means supplication, mercy, and seeking forgiveness. It also refers to Allah's praise of His Messenger, and from the servants, a request for the outpouring of mercy upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Ibn al-Qayyim mentioned that Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, is from the progeny of Ibrahim, indeed he is the best of them, citing the statement of Ibn Abbas in his exegesis of the Almighty's saying: "Indeed, Allah chose Adam and Noah and the family of Abraham and the family of 'Imran over the worlds," and that Muhammad is from the family of Ibrahim. Thus, a Muslim's prayer upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, implicitly includes a prayer upon the family of Ibrahim, of whom Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, is a part. The choosing (istifa') mentioned in the Almighty's saying: "Indeed, Allah chose Adam and Noah and the family of Abraham and the family of 'Imran over the worlds" indicates their preference. The Prophet's family has a virtue due to their lineage to him, and they have a right upon the Ummah, but their infallibility from error is not established.
