Is it permissible to keep the book (Mormon) (A Second Witness to Jesus Christ) which belongs to Christians in the home, and must it be burned after someone brings it to us and it contains the mention of the majestic word of Allah?

A Muslim's possession of books from other religions falls into three categories:

First, if one is a specialist acquiring them for study and refuting falsehood, this is a communal obligation (fard kifayah).

Second, if it is merely for general reading, this is disliked (makrooh) if there is no fear of one's عقيدة (creed) being disturbed; otherwise, it is forbidden (haram). The Prophet, peace be upon him, became angry with 'Umar when he took a scripture from a Jew and read from it, saying: "Are you bewildered by it, O son of Khattab? By Allah, I have brought it to you pure and white. If my brother Musa were alive, he would have no choice but to follow me."

Third, if one is from the general Muslim populace who lack sufficient knowledge, it is not permissible for them to possess such books for fear of their creed being disturbed. It is recommended to burn these books to protect the household and the name of Allah contained within them.
