Will the Shiites and Batinis who believe themselves to be in the right, and found no one to guide them, abide eternally in Hellfire? And what about the polytheists who have not heard of Islam? Will Allah send them messengers on the Day of Resurrection to guide them to the truth?
Allah does not punish anyone except after establishing proof against them. Out of His justice and mercy, He does not punish those to whom the call of Islam has not reached. However, He has decreed that no soul shall enter Paradise except a Muslim soul. As for the disbeliever who has not received the call, the has clarified that Allah will test him on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever obeys will enter Paradise, and whoever disobeys will enter the Fire, as narrated in the of Al-Aswad ibn Sari' and Abu Hurayrah. This ruling is general, and it is not possible to specify an individual with certainty. As for a Muslim who errs in some matters due to ignorance and is unable to know the truth, he is excused by virtue of his original Islam and does not depart from it except with certainty.
