Is it permissible for a mother afflicted with paraplegia and a fracture to pray while sitting on her bed, not facing the Qiblah, and with a soiled diaper? And must the diaper be changed five times a day for her prayer to be acceptable?

The mother must perform ablution (wudu') for each prayer after its time has begun, if she is able to do so, even if it means hiring someone to help her with it. Otherwise, she should perform tayammum by striking the earth or anything containing dust. If she is unable to do even that, her prayer is valid according to her condition. It is permissible for her not to change the diaper as long as it is difficult to do so, acting upon the Maliki school of thought. She should fulfill all the conditions and pillars of prayer that she is able to, and whatever she is unable to do is waived for her, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: "Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity."
