What the official demands from the employee is illegitimate, as it involves lying and devouring property unjustly. Obedience to him in this matter is not permissible unless the official is capable of carrying out his threat and dismissing the employee. In such a case, we hope there is no blame upon the employee for complying. However, the money acquired from this act is not permissible for the employee. If it is impossible to return it, it should be spent on general Muslim welfare or given to the poor and needy.
