Is it permissible to supplicate in every prostration during an obligatory prayer, or is it not permissible?

Prostration (sujud) is one of the greatest positions in which supplications (du'a) are answered. It is prescribed to frequently make du'a during prostration in both obligatory (fard) and supererogatory (nafila) prayers, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "As for bowing (ruku'), glorify the Lord therein, and as for prostration (sujud), strive hard in supplication, for it is likely to be answered for you." And his (peace be upon him) saying: "The closest a servant is to his Lord is while he is prostrating, so increase your supplications." It was also reported from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to frequently say in his bowing and prostration: "Subhanak Allahumma Rabbana wa bihamdika, Allahumma ighfir li" (Glory be to You, O Allah, our Lord, and with Your praise, O Allah, forgive me). Nevertheless, the Imam should not prolong his supplication in prostration excessively so as not to burden the congregants.
