Is it permissible to supplicate in prostration during the obligatory prayer?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Supplicating (Du'a) is recommended during prostration in both obligatory and supererogatory prayers, due to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saying: "The closest a servant is to his Lord is while he is prostrating, so increase your supplication." He (peace be upon him) used to say in his prostration: "O Allah, forgive me all my sins, the small and the great, the first and the last, the apparent and the hidden." A Muslim may supplicate with whatever he desires from the good of this world and the Hereafter.
