Is it permissible for a Muslim to pray but not fast, or to fast but not pray, or to work in a place that sells alcoholic beverages and continue to pray while searching for another job?

Prayer and fasting are two great pillars of Islam. Whoever abandons either of them, denying its obligation, has disbelieved by consensus of the people of knowledge. As for whoever abandons prayer out of laziness, some scholars have deemed him a disbeliever and outside the fold of Islam, whereas abandoning fasting out of laziness is not considered disbelief by the majority of scholars. Whoever prays and abandons fasting has committed a grave major sin, but he should not be affirmed in that. And whoever fasts and abandons prayer, his fasting may not benefit him based on the view that the one who abandons prayer is a disbeliever. Nevertheless, he should not be told to abandon fasting; rather, he should be advised and admonished regarding prayer. Similarly, whoever prays and works in selling alcohol should not be prohibited from prayer; instead, he should be asked to immediately abandon the unlawful work, according to the Almighty's saying: "Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing."
