Is it permissible for a woman who has been given a revocable divorce to uncover before her ex-husband during her waiting period, in which he does not wish to reconcile with her? What is the duration of the waiting period and what rulings are binding upon her during it?

Allah has permitted the husband to revoke a revocable divorce during his wife's waiting period ('iddah), and He has allowed him to be alone with her and for her to adorn herself for him. This ruling is not affected by the husband's declaration that he will not revoke the divorce. The duration of the 'iddah varies according to the woman's condition: it ends upon delivery for a pregnant woman, three quru' (periods of purity or menstruation) for a non-pregnant woman who menstruates, and three months for a woman who has despaired of menstruation or who has not menstruated. There is no 'iddah for a woman divorced before consummation of the marriage. A woman in her 'iddah is permitted to go out during the day to fulfill her needs and must stay in her home at night; some scholars, however, have absolutely prohibited her from going out.
