What is the ruling on converting a wedding video that contains dancing, nudity, and evil acts into a DVD, and is this considered participation in sin? And what is the solution when one is invited to an occasion where there are transgressions, fearing the severing of kinship ties if one does not go, and committing sins if one does go?

Whoever contributes to the existence, display, spread, or persistence of a munkar (reprehensible act) is an accomplice to it and incurs sin thereby, due to Allah’s saying: "And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression." Therefore, it is not permissible to convert a wedding tape that contains munkarat into a CD, nor is it permissible to attend occasions where there are acts of disobedience, unless with the intention of condemning those responsible and carrying out that condemnation. This does not constitute a severance of kinship ties, for maintaining kinship ties is done through what is good, not through what is reprehensible.
