Is the garment of fame, which causes its wearer to enter Hellfire, a valid concept? And what are its characteristics? And are there any colors forbidden or disliked for men to wear?

The Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade clothing of renown (libas ash-shuhrah), which is intended for distinction, self-admiration, and arrogance towards people. This includes any clothing that deviates from the norm with the intention of gaining fame, whether it is extravagant or humble. He also commanded modesty in dress, forbade extravagance and pride, and encouraged simplicity.

As for the colors of men's clothing, the basic principle is permissibility for all colors unless there is a specific prohibition. Thus, it is permissible to wear black, green, yellow, blue, and the like, and white is recommended. Scholars have differed regarding wearing saffron-dyed (mu'asfar) and red garments, oscillating between prohibition, dislike, and permissibility. However, the preponderant opinion is permissibility, though refraining from them is better.
