What is the ruling on a religious guide, who receives a salary from his job, accepting gifts or money from pilgrims performing Hajj or Umrah? And what is the ruling on that if he requests it or alludes to it?

The religious guide for pilgrims (Hujjaj) and those performing Umrah is a caller to Allah and a guide to goodness. He must be characterized by virtuous ethics, including abstaining from what people possess and being ascetic regarding worldly matters, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Be ascetic in the world, and Allah will love you. Be ascetic in what people possess, and people will love you." Therefore, he should not ask anyone for anything. However, if they give him something without him asking, there is no harm in taking it, especially if it helps to reconcile their hearts.
